AC Milan – Lille | 05/11/2020

A mouthwatering clash between two unbeaten powerhouses takes place in the Europa League on Thursday evening as AC Milan welcome Lille to San Siro in Group H. The two sides currently occupy the top two spots in the group heading into matchday three, with Milan triumphing over Sparta Prague and Lille drawing with Celtic last week.

A 2-1 win at the weekend extended AC Milan’s unbeaten run to an impressive 24 competitive matches (W18, D6 – 90 minutes), representing their longest such streak since 1995/96! That result continued a recent trend too, as Milan have netted first in the opening 30 minutes in their last five competitive fixtures.

The hosts have won two of their three Serie A home games this campaign (W2, D1), while scoring three goals in two of those matches – something they’ve also done in their previous three UEFA Europa League (UEL) home fixtures. However, the ‘LOSC’ are currently enjoying their best start to a new Ligue 1 season since 1952/53 (W5, D4), after scoring first in eight of their top-flight games.

The visitors’ 4-1 away victory in their opening UEL group stage game ended a dreadful 13-game winless run of 13 straight road trips in this competition (D6, L7). However there could still be a slow start here, as Lille have scored 71.43% of their last 14 UEL away goals in or after the 60th minute.
