Africa’s sportsbook operators are innovating as lockdown intensify

Africa sportsbook operators are taken significant steps in recent months as lockdown spell across the region, despite the suspension of all sporting activities across the globe, punters attitude shift towards virtual betting during the first week of March.

Still, majority of the sportsbook operators recorded sales and were surviving on virtual sports as it is often seen in Africa virtual betting practically stakes in shops in which retail is still the widely accepted form of gambling in the continent. At the same time, some sportsbook operators are innovating by offering eSports as another alternative means of sports to keep players engage during the lockdown in Africa.

However, the lockdown of movement intensifies across the African region, due to the paradigm surrounding covid19 in the world, in Africa detected cases is over 10,000 people, in 52 African countries. Though the numbers of infected people are still low, compare to other regions. However, still, African leaders are not taking chances as most of the countries in the area are taking drastic measures after seeing the damage the virus caused developed countries across the globe.

Probably it resulted in the virtual collapse of the health care system in most of these countries in the world. Perhaps sportsbook operators are innovating their services by going digital and integrating they platforms practically to virtual betting platform to a mobile compatible, to meet customers needs which brings that comfort and flexibility, as lockdown of movement has already been implemented virtually by the majority of the countries in the region.

As significant numbers of sportsbook operators will still have their fair share of customers that still prefer staking on virtual and eSports betting during the lockdown. For example, Betking Nigeria rolled out the new product during this lockdown by offering its customers the opportunity to stake with its new mobile virtual betting platform. Another sportsbook operator that as innovated is Betway Kenya which is now offering punters the chance to stake on eSports games daily.

Though, with operators taking immense approach towards innovating rather than sobering on what the pandemic as caused the overall business landscape though it’s a welcome development to Africa Igaming sector.
