BETTING SOUTH AFRICA Altenar gains national manufacturer licence in South Africa 1 month ago Samuel Post Views: 156 Altenar’s latest licence from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board enables it to supply sportsbook solutions to operators in South Africa, expanding its reach across the African market. Altenar has obtained a licence from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB), marking its official entry into the regulated South African market. The licence allows Altenar to operate as a registered national manufacturer, providing sportsbook solutions to local operators in the region. The approval follows an extensive application process, which required Altenar to complete compliance checks and provide detailed documentation to demonstrate its operational suitability. The move highlights Altenar’s growing focus on expansion into regulated markets, particularly across Africa. Sam Hill, Sales Director at Altenar, commented: “Altenar is delighted to receive our licence to supply our sportsbook solution into South Africa. It is another significant step for us globally and is a key target market for us to further establish our product.” Good to know: Hill also noted that Altenar’s sportsbook features, including its flexible user interface and localised sports offerings such as football and racing, are well-suited to South Africa’s betting market. In December 2024, Altenar entered into a partnership with BetStarters to integrate its sportsbook solutions across Latin America, Asia and Africa. Earlier in the year, the company secured its B2B licence in Greece and partnered with Ambassadoribet to extend its presence in Georgia. South Africa represents a strategic opportunity for Altenar due to its established regulatory framework and increasing demand for betting solutions.
