Animals of Africa

Microgaming is planning to deliver a brand new slot machine on their platform, in collaboration with Gold Coin Studios and it will be called Animals of Africa. Maybe not the most special name and theme for quite a game, there are a lot which offer something similar but from what I’ve seen up until this point, it will be interesting either way.

As for its major features, the first one I’d like to mention, is the use of single and double high value symbols. Those are not unique to this slot machine, the mechanic was used before in other Microgaming titles, and Gold Coin Studios borrowed from them. This mechanic gives you two types of premium symbols, showing you either 1 or 2 animals in each image.

Whether it’s symbols with 1 or 2 lions (or other animals), you can combine them to form combinations. The game checks how many animals appear in a combo, and pays accordingly. You can have up to 10 animals from the 5 symbols, if they’re all double, or it can be a lower combo of both types. Royals only appear in single versions.

The regular wilds are available in the base game, while during free spins they gain the ability to expand and take over their reels.

To actually get into the free spins, you need 3 to 5 African Trees scattered in view. The extra feature consists of those expanding wilds.

Theme wise, it’s easy to figure out what kind of story we’re being sold on. The African safari style design will feature many of the wild animals that one can expect to find in many of the continent’s savanna regions, but it’s a more varied list than in other games, where only the Big 5 are covered.

Here, the main symbols will show us images of the Lion, Rhino, Antelope, Monkey and Zebra. Low value symbols show us Royals. At the same time, we have feature symbols with Wild logos, or with the African Tree as the scatter.
