EXPERTS KENYA Betting machines confiscated in Machakos crackdown 1 month ago Szarlot Post Views: 122 Fifty -four slot betting machines were Wednesday confiscated during a raid in Mlolongo, Machakos County. Machakos County Police Commander Patrick Lobolia said the crackdown conducted by a multi-agency unearthed lots of criminal activities within Mlolongo Township especially in Madharau Street. Lobolia said the multi-agency that included officers from the Kenya Police Service, provincial administration and the Machakos County Government conducted the raid in Mlolongo division on Tuesday. It was reported to Mlolongo police station as an operations/raids on gambling machines incident at 2.30 pm. “The operations targeting illegal gambling machines within Mlolongo Township and its environs led to the confiscation of 54 slot betting machines. The machines are currently stored at the Mlolongo assistant county commissioner’s office pending destruction,” – Lobolia said. The police chief spoke to the Star at his office in Machakos town on Wednesday. He said similar crackdowns were ongoing across Machakos county. “We have continuously stepped up our crackdowns to rid the county of illicit brew, narcotics, gambling machines, among other forms of crime. Our officers have been advised accordingly to enforce the law as is expected of them,” – Lobolia said. Lobolia said as the National Police Service, they were committed to ensuring that citizens are safe together with their property at all times. He cautioned residents against engaging in gambling businesses stating that gambling itself destroys families. “Gambling machines’ operators must know that gambling causes problems in families. Winning more money from gambling is close to impossible. Gambling spoils not only children, but also adults some of who waste money on gambling.” – Lobolia said. He said children shouldn’t practice gambling in whatever form or nature. “Both the national and county governments don’t get revenue from those involved in illicit gambling. Gambling is illegal,” – Lobolia said. Lobolia warned that nobody would be allowed to engage in illegal business within the county.
