Boxer Fatuma Zarika excited about SportPesa

Gor Mahia signed a three-year deal with acclaimed betting firm SportPesa worth KSh 80 million per season Fatuma Zarika said she was excited about the renewed partnership between the two entities terming it a family reunion.

It is worth noting that Sportpesa was a major sponsor of Zarika and fully facilitated her local and international boxing matches. Over the weekend, record Kenya Premier League title victors Gor Mahia’s relaunched their partnership with the gaming giant SportPesa.

In the announcement made on Friday, September 23, at Sarit Centre, Gor signed a three-year deal with the acclaimed betting firm worth KSh 80 million per season.

The pomp and colour event was graced by, among others, the SportPesa chief executive, Captain Ronald Karauri, the club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier and the celebrated Kenyan female boxer Fatuma Zarika.

Taking to social media after the event, Zarika, christened the Iron Fist, said she was excited about the renewed partnership between the two entities terming it a family reunion.

It is worth noting that Sportpesa was a major sponsor of Zarika and fully facilitated her local and international boxing matches.

On his part, Gor Mahia goalkeeping coach Matthews Ottamax said the sponsorship had put a smile back on the club’s players.

“When I wrote about his elective post, I saw hope in the future of Kenyan sports, and before the ink could dry, SportPesa has put back the smile on the faces of Gor Mahia players,” – said Ottamax.

Other sports that benefited from the firm’s initial sponsorship include AFC Leopards, Rugby team Shujaa, Kabaddi, among others.

Speaking during the event, SportPesa Boss Ronald Karauri said the company will gradually rebuild its partnerships as it seeks to grow sports in Kenya. Gor to top KPL As part of the partnership, SportPesa will fully kit the first team and the technical bench.

The gaming giant will also cover the medical insurance costs for club players and cater for the team’s travel and accommodation expenses as they participate in African Inter-Club Competition. Karauri, who doubles as Kasarani MP, said he believes the renewal of the partnership is the beginning of bringing Gor to its top standards.
