Chelsea – Manchester City | 25/10/2021 PREMIER LEAGUE

One of the standout matches on the Premier League calendar will take place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, as early league leaders Chelsea welcome the reigning champions Manchester City. Chelsea top the table with 13 points to show from their opening five matches, while Man City occupy fifth, having collected 10 points from their first five league games of the 2021-22 campaign.

Premier League (PL) fans will be feeling anything but the blues when the ‘Blues’ of Chelsea take on the ‘Sky Blues’ of Manchester City. Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea have been almost unplayable from back to front since the German took over, and their four clean sheets this PL season makes it 15 shutouts in Tuchel’s 24 league matches in charge, the best such record during his time in England.

Chelsea have been ruthless up top too as they possess an array of attacking weapons, with ten different goalscorers already this season contributing to all their league wins coming via a 2+ goal margin. The London side have also seemingly had City’s number of late, especially in high stake games, beating them in last season’s FA Cup semi-final and the UEFA Champions League final, each forming part of a sequence of three successive competitive wins.

Manchester City will have mixed feelings about their start to the season (W3, D1, L1), although a win here would bring them level on points with Chelsea. Consecutive 5-0 victories over Norwich and Arsenal perhaps gave false hope they were back to their ruthless best, until a slender win over Leicester and a goalless draw to Southampton last time out highlighted they’re indeed human.

Pep Guardiola may seem more uncomfortable in his dugout than usual here given that against no other team has the Spaniard suffered more defeats in all competitions (eight). He’ll be looking to motivate his troops to avoid a new unwanted personal record too, as never has he lost four consecutive matches against the same opponent.
