Elizabeth II is dead. The British Queen died at the age of 96

Other members of the royal family hurriedly arrived at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where the Queen was staying. Among them, the British heir to the throne, Prince Charles, with his wife, Princess Camilla, and his son, Prince William.

Unfortunately, the worst information was confirmed. Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96.

Information about the death of the queen was provided by the press service of the royal family. “She left in peace” – stated in the press release.

The Queen was born on April 21, 1926 in London. She was the longest reigning monarch of Great Britain. She took power at the age of 25, after the death of her father, George VI. Her lavish coronation, however, took place 16 months later and was a huge media event. For the first time in history, the ceremony was broadcast live by British television. It is estimated that the broadcast was watched by approx. 40%. Britons, and another 32 percent listened to the radio report.

In 1947, Elizabeth married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Her parents were against the relationship for a long time (Philip was considered a playboy, and his family had ties to the Nazis), but eventually agreed to the marriage. Elżbieta and Filip have four children: Karol, Anna, Andrzej and Edward.

On April 9, 2021, Prince Philip died at the age of 99. The death caused an international stir, and the funeral ceremonies were followed by over 10 million British people on television. During Philip’s service, the Queen sat alone due to pandemic restrictions.

Although their marriage has aroused much controversy over the years, Elizabeth and Filip have been together for over 70 years. In 2017, they became the first royal couple in history to celebrate a “platinum wedding”.

The world is in mourning.
