BETTING TANZANIA GBT eyes 200bn/- from sports betting 6 months ago Samuel Post Views: 242 GAMING Board of Tanzania (GBT) is planning to collect some 200bn/- through sports betting in 2024/25. The new target is an increase of almost 18 per cent, compared to the previous year, which was 170bn/-. GBT Director General, Mr James Mbalwe, said recently during the launch of the new betting company, BetWinner in Dar es Salaam that the sports betting sector is growing fast and its contribution to the GDP is seen. “The sports betting sector has made significant progress and substantially contributed to GDP. The coming of BetWinner is welcomed,” – Mr Mbalwe said. However, GBT urged betting companies to be ethical, responsible and transparent in their operations to bring about fair competition in the sector. BetWinner’s Managing Director, Jesse Ndambala, said that they aim to offer customers better odds than other betting companies while stressing that the firm has brought significant innovation to the betting games that include offering a 100 per cent bonus as a welcome offer. “Apart from having good odds, we have introduced significant innovations in our games. Our goal is to enhance entertainment and competitive spirit in the sports betting sector,” – Mr Ndambala said. Apart from football, BetWinner said will also look into investing in various sports such as golf and netball to start with. The MD said that they are prepared to face fair competition in the betting sector by providing first-rate services including paying the winner immediately after being confirmed. The Cyprus based firm, BetWinner, currently operates in several African countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, and Uganda.
