Ghana National Lottery Authority Announced Registration Interested Entities

In a notice, the Ghana National Lottery Authority (NLA) wishes to announce that it is embarking on an exercise to register all unlicensed Lotto Operators and any interested entities.

Simultaneously, individuals who want to operate and sell Lotto/Lottery products within the legal framework of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722) and VAG Act 844 for 2021 to the year ending 2022. Accordingly, all unlicensed Lotto Operators and any interested entities and individuals who wish to be registered and subsequently licensed to operate and sell Lotto/Lottery products within the said legal frameworks. While they may pick up Pre-Qualification Application Forms from either National Lottery Authority’s Customer Service Centre at the Fortune House, Accra or any of NLA’s Regional/District Offices for completion and submission.

This registration exercise commences on 8th September 2021, and the deadline for submitting completed Application Forms is 30th September 2021. After this date, only entities or individuals who submitted their duly completed Forms would be considered for licensing to operate Lotto/Lottery in the country. Upon completion of this exercise, any unlicensed person or entities found using and selling Lotto/Lottery products would be dealt with following the laws of Ghana, according to the management.

Meanwhile, earlier in the week, they drew the attention of the management of the National Lottery Authority to the activities of specific individuals or groups who hold themselves out as staff to defraud unsuspecting members through social media and other communication networks. These fraudsters convince patrons of NLA products to make mobile money transfers to them in exchange for winning lotto numbers. The fraudsters have also set up Facebook and WhatApp pages using pictures of some staff of the National Lottery Authority to perpetuate their nefarious activities.

The National Lottery Authority wishes to inform the general public that it has not commissioned nor appointed any individual or group of individuals to offer winning lotto numbers to the public through social media platforms or any communication network. It is quite an exciting opportunity for companies who wish to operate a lotto/lottery in Ghana, knowing that lottery is still the most prominent business in the gambling industry.
