Hollywoodbets Announced Sponsorship for SA women League

A historical past week for South Africa women’s football, the league has now been renamed to Hollywoodbets Super League. This is marked a massive milestone for women’s football in the country after the giant sports betting company Hollywoodbets announced a sponsorship deal for the South African National Women’s Football League.

One of the biggest in SA, the betting company, becomes the first sponsor for the top league in the country, which is just in its second inaugural season, and the league has now been renamed to Hollywoodbets Super League. The South African Football Association confirmed this report. “Hollywoodbets has joined hand with SAFA to become the official sponsor of National Women’s Soccer League which will now be known as @Hollywoodbets Super League,” SAFA tweeted on their official Twitter account. The bookmaker brand has injected millions of Rands into the Safa National Women’s league.

In contrast, the prize money for the winner has been set up for a massive R2 million. The runners-up will get R1million, and the rest of the teams will walk away with R150,000 at the end of the season. During the press conference organized by Safa, president Danny Jordan said,

“For the first time, the National Women’s League has a commercial partner. This investment will further aid us to strengthen the clubs to accelerate the growth and development of professional women’s football in our country.”

“To Hollywoodbets, we welcome you as a partner. Thank you very much. This is a great day for us for the players, for women’s football in South Africa. We are excited about this collaboration which we think is a game-changer.”

With some of the games being televised on the public broadcaster, Safa CEO Tebogo Motlanthe believe more exposure will help the league to be sustainable.

“We must also thank our broadcast partners, the SABC, who share our vision in elevating women’s football; without doubt, this is to date the single largest media platform provided to women’s sport in South Africa, said Motlanthe.

“The league visibility and investment go hand in hand, and ultimately the Hollywoodbets Super League will only be sustainable long term if we can reach more viewers and gain awareness through greater access to watching on TV. But not only will this partnership help grow the reach and associated following, but it will become a critical enabler for the league and its club to attract greater sponsorship deals and broadcast revenue which ultimately is where much of the men’s money now comes from.”

Meanwhile, Hollywoodbets is one of the largest bookmakers in South Africa today, with over 80 retail stores across the country. In 2015 it had expanded its footprint to Mozambique, Ireland, and the UK. The brand offers comprehensive offers like sports betting, online casino, slots, online scratch card, and online lottery. Among others, they are available on their platform, satisfying their thousand customers with non-stop entertainment.
