They arrested three male adults possessing several rolls of bhang and twelve sachets of heroin. The suspects were booked and arraigned in court. One suspect was arrested at a bar where 10 cartons and 200 bottles of 250 ml vodka with fake stamps were retrieved. In Bomet County, 47 rolls of bhang and 24 stones of the same were nabbed, and six illegal gambling machines were confiscated. Several operations were conducted in Nairobi County, where several people were arrested for operating bars without liquor licenses. The police destroyed 4,060 liters of illicit brew in Kibira, and two people were arrested. Additionally, two female suspects were apprehended with 100 liters of illicit brew in Ganga Ward, Tharaka Nithi County. The nationwide crackdown of police over the increased sale of illicit brew and circulation of counterfeit in the past week has been termed successful. Multiple successful raids have been conducted in bars and brewing dens through the multi-agency approach of teams. The teams comprise National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) and police officers from various stations. “It is no doubt that the outlawed alcoholic drinks and illicit drugs have had adverse immediate, short-term, and long-term negative effects on the public particularly the youth. NPS therefore shall not relent in the fight against the illicit brew menace and assures the public of its commitment to get rid of illicit brews and contraband goods.” – National Police Service (NPS) spokesperson Resila Onyango said.
