BETTING KENYA Kenya suspends two more players for match fixing 2 years ago Samuel Post Views: 336 The Football Kenya Federation on Wednesday suspended two more players as its investigation into match-fixing continues, with 14 footballers already barred from the national league. Defender Lennox Ogutu and midfielder Alphonce Ndonye from Mathare United will not take part in any football-related activities until the investigations are completed, FKF said. “FKF is in receipt of reports alleging that the two players are involved in match-fixing practices in the Kenyan game,” – the federation’s integrity department said in a letter to Mathare United, seen by AFP. It follows a series of suspensions in recent months as part of a national probe into match-fixing in football for betting purposes. Last month, 14 players and two coaches were suspended for match-fixing after FKF received a tip-off about cheating in the national league. Among those suspended in January were six players from Zoo Kericho FC, which was found guilty of match-fixing by FIFA’s integrity unit in 2021 and expelled from the Kenyan Premier League. In February 2020, FIFA banned four Kenyan players – one for life – for taking place in an “international conspiracy” to fix league matches. Mathare United are last in the 18-team league.
