Kenya – Why SMS Betting Is the Future of Gambling In Kenya

On April 1, Cabinet Secretary Interior and Coordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i vowed to introduce tough measures to regulate the betting sector in the country, which he accused of leading youths astray.

Among the conditions that betting and gaming firms had to meet before having their licenses renewed was to be tax-compliant. Sports analysts state that the sector has a cultic following in Kenya as it has attracted investors, both local and international.

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) would later clear 10 betting companies including OdiBet, Ken Bookmakers, Mozzartbet, Betway among others.

Odibets is among the fast-growing online and SMS betting company in the country with over a million users on a monthly basis. Recently, it partnered with European football agents pitching tent in the country to scout local football talents.

SMS betting being new in the market, this is how football fanatics can place their bets.
