Kimberley’s Flamingo Casino comes of age

It’s been 21 years since Kimberley’s Flamingo Casino, the Northern Cape’s leading leisure facility, has opened its doors to visitors. Sun International’s R100-million casino was the first in the region and has become an important part of the tourism infrastructure, welcoming locals and holidaymakers.

The Casino celebrated in style on Saturday 11 March 2023, with thrilling entertainment on the gaming floor, delicious cake and sparkling wine.

“There was a pop a balloon promotion to entertain guests and giveaway drinks and meal vouchers,”

– said Themba Marasha, Flamingo’s General Manager.

The remainder of the month will also see various specials across the entertainment complex.

While the Diamond Rush might be over, Flamingo Casino, named for the abundance of these birds which make their name in the nearby Kamfers Dam, recreates the energy and excitement of this historical time and is a venue which is synonymous with fun.

Last year, Flamingo Casino saw 72 jackpots totalling R4,4-million given away and one millionaire created on the Sunstriker, winning R1,6-million.

The Casino has 231 slot machines and seven tables in both smoking and non-smoking gaming floors, welcoming all levels of gamers.

The casino recently donated five computers worth more than R100, 000 to Maths & Science Leadership Academy to invest in skills development for the future of learners in grades 9 to 12, teachers, unemployed youth and local workforce within the region.
