BETTING MAURITIUS Mauritius horse racing season begins in March 4 years ago Adeleye Awakan Post Views: 2,028 The start of the 2021 horse racing season will take place on March 20. According to what the Mauritius Turf Club indicates in the press release issued early this year. The gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) has approved 39 days of racing this year with eight races per meeting for the 2021 racing season. Thus the horse racing season will extend until December 18, 2021. The Mauritius Turf Club has also been allowed to split races and organize a maximum of 9 races per race meeting should there be an exceptionally high number of horses nominated in a race. The Gambling Regulatory Authority has also approved a new set of rules governing racing (The Rules of Racing). Such new rules have been approved following Section 32 (3) of the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act 2007 and will take effect from January 2021. Therefore, the GRA warn horse owners they have to obtain their Personal Management License, the documents certified that a person can operate in the gambling sector. The Gambling Regulation Authority (GRA) states that only 265 of the 838 horse owners who have applied for a license past the deadline those who are not in good standing will be liable to severe penalties or even ban operating for this year’s horse season. Meanwhile, the Horse racing season is a cherished tradition of the island. The Champ de Mars Racecourse is one of the oldest globally first opened its doors in 1812 and since then was playing an enormous role in the life of Mauritian, attracting tens of thousands of people each weekend during the racing season from March to December. The races are accompanied by Mauritian music and dance shows, making it an incredible fusion of local traditions. In a lively atmosphere that attracts tourists from different parts of the world who want to witness the horse racing season, ten of thousands visit horse racecourse every day over the span of the season that will run from March to December 2021. Even though Mauritius is a service-based economy, tourism is vital. The country attracts visitors from all corners of the world, a destination known for its undeniable island appeal, eclectic culture, intriguing history, and many activities. There is little wonder touted as an idyllic destination for a romantic getaway, honeymoon, or family holiday. One of the best things about this destination is that it’s not a lazy day spent lapping up the phenomenal year-round weather, known as the home of tourism. As the horseracing season begins in a fortnight, it will be a welcome development for the entire gaming industry, particularly the sports betting industry, during this season. Bookmakers often experience tremendous traction of customers on their platforms because the horse racing season in terms of participation is the most significant and loved sports in Mauritius. Simultaneously, the land-based casinos in the country also benefit from the horse racing season. As mentioned earlier, the nature of horse racing season attracts many tourists from around the globe. In essence, the land-based casinos work interchangeably with tourism because casinos are strategically located in hotels and resorts. These will, of course, aid the casinos’ operators to experience huge turnover during the horseracing season in Mauritius.
