Real Madrid – Mallorca | 24/06/2020

Real Madrid reclaimed the top spot in the LaLiga standings after another convincing win over Real Sociedad. A 2-1 win over La Real in their first away game since the lockdown meant that they made it three wins in a row, but can they make it four when they host RCD Mallorca Today?

Real Madrid have inflicted some significant pain upon Mallorca at home in recent years, with six of their last nine La Liga (LL) H2H fixtures at home resulting in victories by two or more goals. With three wins of such magnitude in their last three LL home fixtures, that pattern looks set to continue. The hosts remain undefeated at home in their pursuit for the title, and clean sheets in the majority (eight) of their 15 home fixtures makes them a difficult prospect for any visitor.

That is particularly the case before the half-time break, with Real conceding just twice in the first half across their entire LL home campaign. Though seven of Mallorca’s last ten LL away trips have produced three or more total goals, Mallorca are unlikely to threaten that record. In fact, they had conceded first-half goals in five of six trips away to clubs that lay in the top half of the table at the conclusion of the weekend round.

The visitors have failed to keep a single clean sheet in 14 consecutive LL matches on the road now, losing all but one (D1, L11) away LL fixture in which they conceded the opener. In relation to that, four of Mallorca’s last five LL defeats at any venue have produced a 1-0 scoreline.
