LOTTERIES TANZANIA Tanzania’s National Lottery welcomes ITHUBA as new management 2 months ago Samuel Post Views: 332 The National Lottery of Tanzania has introduced Ithuba, a South African-based company, as its new management. As part of this transition, ITHUBA has invested a total of 50bn/ into the National Lottery, aimed at improving the lives of Tanzanians and increasing investment opportunities in the country. At the ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Deputy Minister for Finance, Hamad Hassan Chande, praised both the National Lottery and its new investor, Ithuba Tanzania. Elaborating, he noted that the lottery games would not only boost the country’s economy but also help nurture local talents. “This is an important opportunity for economic investment and community development, especially in nurturing young talent. It’s the right time for such an initiative, as the government has heavily invested in the sports sector, and with Tanzania’s football league now ranked sixth in Africa, I believe that we can reach fourth place next year. This is possible,” – he pointed out. The National Lottery is expected to create 2,000 jobs and distribute over 120bn/-in prizes through draws and other games to be introduced in 2025. Kelvin Koka, Director of ITHUBA Tanzania, shared his optimism for the National Lottery, describing it as a foundation for leadership, opportunity, and collective prosperity. He also envisioned Tanzania and the broader East African region becoming a leading force in the gambling industry. “Ithuba has strong confidence in the growth and potential of Tanzania’s gambling market, which is why we are investing here. This is not just about gambling; it’s a significant investment that will benefit lucky winners and all service providers supporting the project,” – Koka stated. He added: – “Through this initiative, we aim to make a positive impact on society, particularly by introducing modern gaming technology. It’s a life-changing opportunity.” Koka further explained that beyond offering players the chance to win, every ticket purchased would contribute to community development. His goal is to extend the reach of the National Lottery beyond Dar es Salaam to all regions of Tanzania, ensuring that every Tanzanian has an opportunity to participate. The National Lottery will be overseen by the Gaming Board of Tanzania, which will ensure transparency and fairness in all operations.
