EXPERTS Trends that have placed the gambling industry in the limelight in 2020 4 years ago Peter Situma Post Views: 1,116 The Coronavirus pandemic has put the entire globe to a test and most if not all industries have been affected significantly. Africa is a developing continent and the poverty levels here are a bit high. This means that the continent may suffer a bit more than anywhere else. On a positive note though, the virus has been the mother of invention in most industries. I’m here to highlight the trends that have been noted in the gambling industry and somehow salvaged this sector from crumbling down. This article will focus majorly on the different technologies that have kept the industries afloat amidst the storm. The following are the trends every gambler should familiarize themselves with if they haven’t done it already. 1. Use of mobile technology 2020 has indeed been the year of marking major improvements in mobile gaming. This is because gamblers can now accept gaming challenges, and engage in community games through their phones and chatting platforms. A large number of online casinos offer browser-based mobile games which can only be accessed via mobile phones. This means that anyone with a smartphone can access endless casino games on the go. The use of mobile phones has been especially exciting in moments when staying away from social gatherings has proven to be life-saving. Mobile phone operators such as MTN (Uganda), Airtel, and Safaricom (Kenya) have partnered with gaming companies to ease cash transfer processes while making deposits and withdrawals from casinos. 2. The blockchain technology The blockchain technology involves the use of cryptocurrencies in purchasing casino services. This has led to what is popularly known as the blockchain casinos. Unlike the use of the usual cash, using a cryptocurrency like bitcoin has various benefits. I know whenever you do business online the question on how safe your information is, always pops up. Well, data safety is something you never have to worry about when using the blockchain technology as a means of payment on your online casino account. Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa are some of the countries where the blockchain technology has been adopted in various industries, not to mention the gambling industry. 3. Virtual games When sports got canceled or postponed due to some inevitable circumstances like the Coronavirus, virtual reality becomes our new normal. Some casinos have quickly resorted to providing their customers with authentic gambling experiences where they get to enjoy land-based casinos from the comfort of their homes through virtual casinos. Players are also able to have live chats with other players, therefore, socially bringing people together in a safer way. This has ensured that casinos didn’t close completely. 4. Artificial intelligence AI is usually coupled with machine learning. This technology comes in handy in the customization of games for the gamblers/players. Have you ever wonderedhow your machine knowswhat you are looking for? That is what AI entails. When you search for a game online, AI analyzes your choice of game selection and offers you more customized suggestions. Other than customizing games for you, AI helps in the prevention of fraud when gambling. Operators are able to detect fraud by using AI to analyze patterns as punters play. Additionally, systems use Artificial Intelligence to detect potential threats of problem gambling. Africa has been noted to have serious cases of gambling. This is because most African countries are poor and the gambling communities consider gambling as a job and not as a form of entertainment. If a problem can be detected before causing danger, then it can be rehabilitated easily. 5. Telegram casinos. Gaming companies have adopted the use of telegram messenger in providing casino games to their players. Telegram casinos feature famous slots and games. This is because the technology targets a world-wide reception. This is possible if the casinos are offering what a majority of gamblers enjoy. For many reasons, the gambling industries in most African countries face prohibition. Telegram gaming is one technology that is immune to any kind of prohibitive laws. Additionally, telegram gaming bot is available 24/7 from the comfort of your home. As a gambler, you enjoy anonymity as your subscriptions cannot be monitored, controlled, or tracked. In conclusion, the trends listed above have helped the Africa continent to overcome most of the shortcomingsthat have been crippling the gambling industry. We are all aware that more than 50% of African regions are rural areas that are underdeveloped. These technologies have penetrated the larger part of Africa enabling rural gambling citizens to have fun while making some extra money. If you haven’t experienced any of the technologies, try it out. It could be your game changer!
