EXPERTS UGANDA Uganda: 70-year-old woman gives birth to twins 9 months ago Samuel Post Views: 551 On November 29, a 70-year-old Ugandan woman gave birth to twins. ‘A historic event’, according to her doctor. It was a miracle in rural Masaka, some 120 kilometers west of the capital of Uganda, Africa. A 70-year-old woman gave birth to twins on Wednesday, 29 November, 2023. Safina Namukwaya describes the birth of her children, a boy and a girl, as a ‘miracle’. Both mother and babies are in good health. The septuagenarian had already given birth to a girl three years ago, after being described as a ‘cursed woman’ for never having children. “This is a historic event. It’s an extraordinary feat for a 70-year-old mother to give birth to twins” – Dr. Edward Tamale Sali, who supervised her pregnancy and delivery, told AFP. Despite this event, Safina Namukwaya’s partner did not attend the birth. “Maybe he’s not happy that I gave birth to twins (…) for fear of the responsibilities that entails.” – she said. The hospital where the Ugandan woman gave birth shared the great news on Twitter. At 70 years, Safina Namukwaya delivers twins today: “Women’s Hospital International Kampala sets African record! Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we’ve achieved the extraordinary – delivering twins to Africa’s oldest mother aged 70! This is a historic event.” Internet users shocked A news that divided the Internet users. Some comments even judged and criticized the mother. So selfish. Now these children won’t have a mother when she dies in a few years, or a father. It’s tragic. Just because you want to see if you can do something doesn’t mean you should. These babies will most likely lose their mother sooner than 90% of others. This feels like a good time to remember that people are allowed to do what they want, without having to deal with judgment online.
