Up To 20 Arsenal Fans Arrested Over Trophy Parade In Uganda

20 Arsenal fans have been detained in Uganda after taking part in a trophy parade after the Gunners beat Manchester United on Sunday.

The north London side beat United 3-2 with a late winner from Eddie Nketiah securing a huge three points at the Emirates. The win for Mikel Arteta’s side leaves them five points clear at the top with. a game in hand, exactly half way through the season.

A day after the action, local Ugandan police intercepted a group of joyful Arsenal fans who were parading through Jinja in a convoy of around five vehicles, and one was carrying a trophy that he’d purchased at a local store.

One Gunners fan Baker Kasule told local media:

“I don’t know what we have done but we were simply celebrating our victory over rivals Manchester United.”

However, police said that the individuals didn’t have a permit to hold the procession which is a public order offence.

There could be more trouble for the Ugandan police force on the way, with Arsenal taking on Manchester City this Friday in the FA Cup.
