EXPERTS What is the next cause of action for bookmakers & bettors 3 years ago Adeleye Awakan Post Views: 925 Across the world, bettors are preparing themselves for a long summer without any real live sport to entertain them. We all have our fingers crossed that by June or July we will see things back on track, but right now the Euros have been rescheduled for 2021 as well as the Olympics, and while significant leagues in Europe are very much in doubt so as it stands now we don’t know when next the leagues will resume back on track. For bettors and gaming operators, it is an unprecedented situation. There have never been this many competitions cancelled before. While there are a lot of very disappointed bettors out there right now and many operators are adjusting to immediate future by going digital with their businesses. So as so many African countries are restricting the movement of people at the same time and shutdown of the economy countries like South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya and Nigeria which as totally shut down all gambling sectors of the country. However, this chaos begs the question of what operators supposed to do, without live sports the bedrock of the gambling industry. It’s essential to acknowledge that this pandemic is of course, more prominent than one sector or sports. It is first and foremost a tragedy to the industry stakeholders, and we must all remain sensitive to that. The decision to cancel and postpone sporting events has all been made for the right reasons. But sports betting operators still need to keep fans engaged and drive revenue. Amidst all of the uncertainty, the world continues to spin. Life goes on, albeit with some notable changes to our daily lives. As of consumers, tastes and interests haven’t changed. Across every vertical, the brands that find new ways to serve and provide value to bettors are the ones who will weather this storm and come out the other side. Those who enjoy gambling are still eager to stake if only to distract themselves temporarily from stress and worry this pandemic has brought on them with time bettors will adapt and adjust. The only thing, for now, is to keep communicating, roller out new offers on available games while a robust mobile strategy is essential at this period.
